How stories are made
Most stories are written automatically by Google's Gemini AI from public documents: agendas and minutes posted in the City of Avon's Agenda Center, and announcements the city emails to its subscribers. The AI is told to use only what the document says. Every story links to the official document, which is always the authoritative record.
AI can make mistakes. Stories are checked when problems are reported, and some are reviewed before they are published.
Weather
The Weather page uses public data from NOAA and the National Weather Service: observations from Cleveland Hopkins, the NWS forecast and alerts for Avon, NOAA's Lake Erie buoys, and Cleveland's official climate record. It isn't a substitute for official warnings; always follow the National Weather Service during severe weather.
Posts from X
The On X page shows the newest posts from lists of local accounts, embedded from X. Those posts come straight from X; Avon News doesn't write or check them.
Our bot
Documents are collected by AvonNewsBot, which identifies itself in every request, follows the city's robots.txt rules
and waits between requests. It downloads each document once.
